NOLAHAPPINESSHOUSECOM

Dear Guests,

Welcome to our most beloved home! We call this the Happiness House because, from the very first day we met her, she’s brought our family pure joy. In true New Orleans fashion, every space was designed for togetherness, laughter, and celebration.

Whether from the welcoming front porch, perfect for morning coffee or evening cocktails, or the open courtyard made for music and conversation, this home invites you to slow down and savor each moment. Every corner was created for gathering, storytelling, and soaking in the spirit of joy that defines this city.

Whether you’re here to explore or simply to unwind, we hope you feel the same warmth and happiness that we do each time we walk through these doors.

Make yourself at home, relax, and let the Happiness House work her New Orleans magic.

With love and welcome,

The Hunter-Brown Family

MEET YOUR HOSTS

About Aminata & Ben

Aminata

I’ve spent most of my adult life traveling internationally after catching the travel bug as a high school exchange student in France. Africa became my calling during my undergraduate studies, and after living in Senegal for nearly a year, I went on to complete a year of studies in Ghana, later making Ghana my home for five years. During that time, I started an African women’s social enterprise, which eventually evolved into a non-profit organization supporting girls’ education which I led for two decades. Living abroad for so long and always at the grace of so many kind, generous people shaped my outlook on life and what’s really important.

When I came to New Orleans for the first time in 2007, I knew that this was the city for me. So much of what I loved about the people and lifestyle of West Africa is exactly what makes New Orleans the special place that it is. I moved to New Orleans in 2008, and I have been deeply in love with the city ever since. I know that it is no accident that I now have a beautiful home to host others in a city that calls people from all over the world. I welcome the opportunity to pay forward all of the goodness and hospitality that has been such a fortune for me.

I truly believe that this is what makes the world go round, and there is no greater joy than sharing the city that makes me so happy with others. After a decade living in the city, I was fortunate enough to marry the man of my dreams, Ben E. Hunter, who just happens to be one of New Orleans' most beloved local music celebrities.

Ben

I was born and raised in New Orleans, growing up from the Treme to the 7th Ward. I've performed nationally and locally for the past 20+ years as a music artist with seven studio albums recorded in New Orleans, Jamaica, and Los Angeles. Having grown up in this historic neighborhood, it's fascinating to witness the transformation of a place with such deep roots in New Orleans' music history. It is a pleasure to introduce a wide range of people from all over the country and the world to our great city and this beautifully unique neighborhood. Our home is truly filled with love and joy and a lust for life that we look forward to sharing with you!
